Inter C.A.S. in Argentina
In September, Argentina hosted the Fourth Annual Latin America CAS Conference. The group of 40 high schools from all over Latin America was brought together and motivated by the motto “One small drop of help…an ocean of change”. The purpose of the conference was to bring together IB students through these goals: group work and contemplation; the discovery of their potential and ability; how to take on challenges; and learning through experience.
Three outstanding students from the 11th grade were chosen to represent our school: Andre Arce, Bruno Tudela, and Brian Cross. They were able to participate enthusiastically in the diverse activities that took place in schools in Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata; they had the opportunity to share their experiences and complete cooperative projects with students from Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Argentina.

International Baccalaureate
At the end of 2007, Colegio EuroAmericano implemented the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB). This program takes place over the course of two academic years, during the 11th and 12th grades, and is widely recognized by the best universities, both nationally and internationally.
The International Baccalaureate program offers educational programs to a community of schools around the world. More than 755,000 students study in IB programs in 2,741 schools and 138 countries.

EuroAmericano on the radio
Our director, Lic. Teresa Salas de Sertzen, has been invited to participate in several radio interviews and talk shows, and ecological conferences, to spread the word about our Ecological Education Project. This environmental project has been held up as a model for other institutions that are committed to raising awareness and taking action to care for and protect our environment.
We are proud of the fact that our school is gaining recognition for offering an ecological foundation to our students, along with the achievement of international standards and qualifications.

Also, we would like to congratulate the 5th and 6th grade girls, who took third place in this tournament.

Our art students continue to produce amazing works of art, and were given the opportunity to use their skills in a friendly competition. Congratulations to: Nicolás Castro (7th Grade), Analí Espino (8th Grade), Gabriela Victoria (8th Grade), Luciana Plenge (9th Grade) and Martín Leyton (10th Grade) for their outstanding participation in the competion—“Connecting the World Through Art”, organized by the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI).

We would like to extend our gratitude to art teacher Miss Ursula Solar for giving our students the opportunity to take part in this competition. Way to go, art students!

New mathematics and I.T. teacher in Secondary
We are pleased to announce that Mr. Tony Gugino, an American, has joined our staff in the secondary section. Tony comes to us with many year of experience in the computer industry as well as teaching special needs groups in maths. We have followed the lead of the English department into creating groups for mathematics and after 8 weeks we are delighted with the progress being made. Trimester exams as well as other evaluations have proven to us that ‘smaller is better’ as far as the maths groups are concerned.
We welcome Tony to the Colegio Euroamericano ‘family’ and look forward to him being with us again next year when his duties will be expanded to prepare our students for their IGCSE Computer exams.Tony has lived in Peru for the past four years and is no stranger to Lima, his bilingual skills make him a great asset – Welcome Mr. Tony!
