Following their studies on “Weather and Climate” the children in 4th grade were given a second opportunity to visit the meteorology center “Senamhi”. They were able to observe instruments used for predicting and measuring weather such as: anemometers (wind speed), psychrometers (relative humidity) and barometers (pressure). The students were particularly fascinated by the wind vane: a device that shows wind direction, often seen in Europe and N. America. The children are now busy preparing models of some of these devices to show us in next month’s science fair. En coordinación con sus estudios sobre “El Tiempo y el Clima” se les brindó una segunda oportunidad a los alumnos de 4º grado para visitar Senamhi: Servicio Nacional de Meteorología e Hidrología del Perú. Pudieron observar instrumentos para pronosticar y medir fenómenos climáticos tales como: el anemómetro (velocidad del viento), el sicrómetro (humedad relativa), barómetros y mangas de viento. A los niños les fascinó sobre todo la veleta: un instrumento que se ve a menudo en Europa y Norte América lo cual nos indica la dirección del viento. Los alumnos se encuentran ocupados preparando modelos de algunos de estos instrumentos para demostrarnos en la feria de ciencias que se llevará a cabo el próximo mes. |

To help Peru’s earthquake victims, the whole school community is collaborating with donations of food, fresh water, medicines etc. Children in primary are writing letters and sending some of their own personal games and toys to the children in the south as an act of compassion and solidarity. The students in secondary will sort the things into small packages as part of their social service project. This is helping students to realize how, with a little effort, they can make a positive difference to the lives of others. Para brindar ayuda a los damnificados del terremoto, toda la comunidad del Colegio Euroamericano está colaborando con donaciones de víveres, agua purificada, medicinas etc. Los niños en primaria han estado escribiendo cartas y enviando algunos de sus juguetes personales a los niños del sur, como acto de compasión y solidaridad. Los alumnos de secundaria ayudarán a clasificar y empaquetar las cosas como parte del proyecto de servicio social. Esto está ayudando a los alumnos a darse cuenta como, con un poco de esfuerzo, pueden influir positivamente en la vida de otros. |

Children in our Infants section visited the children’s farm “La Granjita Feliz” and enjoyed a very practical lesson in animal husbandry. They learned the needs of domestic animals such as ducks, quails, rabbits, etc. They sowed seeds and harvested vegetables as well as enjoying a pony ride Nuestros pequeños de Inicial visitaron la "Granjita Feliz", allí aprendieron de manera divertida y práctica sobre los cuidados que requieren algunos animales domésticos como patos, codornices, conejos, etc. Sembraron y cosecharon verduras de la estación y disfrutaron de su paseo en pony . |
